About Us

As mental health and addiction issues affect people of all ages and all economic brackets, the Mental Health Association has led the effort to promote mental health for the entire community by:
  • Offering Mental Health First Aid classes and other educational programs
  • Leading the Youth and Family Initiative for a Healthy Community to:
    • build a community-wide mental health and substance use prevention effort,
    • increase access to treatment,
    • assist parents with information and support
  • Partnering with the Fauquier Free Clinic and Fauquier Health to build a collaborative care model that uses tele mental health to increase access to care and integrate behavioral health with primary care
  • Collaborating with the schools in Rappahannock and Fauquier, local police departments, CAYA Coalition, Fauquier CADRE, and many others to facilitate prevention and treatment initiatives
  • Collecting data on mental health and addiction issues among local youth (PRIDE Survey of 4450 students)
  • Hosting Community Dialogues on Mental Health and Substance Use
  • Providing information on mental health and addiction issues and referral to local resources
  • Advocating for timely access to affordable, quality behavioral health care

Mental Health First Aid classes teach community members to recognize symptoms of mental health or addiction issues and reach out for help when needed.
